ITP were delighted to see a member of our Scaffold Team receive industry recognition with a Scaff Star Award at the 2022 Scaffolding Conference which took place last week at the Heart of England Conference & Events Centre.

Account Manager, David Gilmore, started with ITP in March 1997 as a factory operator making elasticated Powerties used to attach scaffold sheeting to the scaffold structure. The ties were invented by ITP and manufactured in-house by David.

Working on the factory floor, David quickly demonstrated a desire to develop his knowledge and his role within ITP. He was promoted to Warehouse Manager, becoming a well-liked and respected presence as he led our warehouse team and continued to demonstrate a characteristic commitment to high standards of service and delivery which he has maintained throughout his time at ITP.

David then moved into the office and developed himself as an Account Manager within our Scaffold Team. In this role, David has really come into his own, becoming an exceptionally knowledgeable scaffolding specialist and a go-to expertise resource for scaffolding clients and construction professionals throughout the UK.

David has played a significant part in developing the UK scaffolding market and its products over the years. He had a major role in the development of the environmentally-friendly polyolefin temporary keder roof sheeting which has become widely adopted within the temporary roof system industry.

David has shown an unwavering commitment to the continual improvement of standards within our industry. He is a strong exponent of the relevant standards and regulations for scaffold sheeting, working with contractors to educate and inform, ensuring that construction sites benefit from scaffold containment and protection that maximises performance and safety.

David has been an effective advocate of BS 7955 and, perhaps even more importantly, he has led the way in promoting the adoption of flame retardant scaffold sheeting and the importance of correct certifications (LPS 1207/1215 and TS 62/63) in ensuring that construction sites use sheeting which is genuinely compliant with standards.

David has become a widely known and highly regarded figure within the scaffold industry. He is frequently approached by many people from the industry to get his views on new developments, legislation, applications and product and market knowledge. He always responds with friendly, knowledgeable and impartial advice.

Marc van der Voort, Managing Director at ITP, said:

Twenty-five years of service is an impressive milestone and it feels like the perfect year for David to receive his Scaff Star Award. We are enormously appreciative of David’s contribution to our success during the past 25 years.  He has a desire and passion to help others within this industry with his outstanding knowledge and expertise.”
