ITP were delighted to raise £425 for a very important cause last week as we participated in Christmas Jumper Day to help fund a defibrillator for the town centre of Easingwold, where our head office is based.

The effort was inspired by our colleague, Emily Sargent, following the recent passing of her brother, Simon.  Emily’s mother, Sandie, has started a fund-raising initiative to enable the purchase and installation of the defibrillator in memory of Simon. With support from Emily and Emily’s sister Michelle, Sandie has been very determined and resourceful, so far raising £685 through a stall selling home-made crafts and cakes as well as an event which celebrated Simon’s life.  The family is targeting a total of £1,250, which is the estimated cost of buying the defibrillator, encasing the equipment and fitting an electrical power supply.

When ITP heard about the story, we were very keen to contribute. Christmas Jumper Day provided an excellent opportunity as we pledged to donate £25 for every Christmas jumper worn in the office on Friday 10 December. We are delighted to say that our colleagues arrived in all kinds of garishly festive knitwear and accessories to support the cause!

“I’m delighted that everyone stepped up for the cause and I’m very grateful to the company and my colleagues for their show of support. Adding another £425 to the total has given our fund raising a huge boost and we are now getting close to our target. If the defibrillator ends up saving the life of one person, that alone would be worth all the effort and cost needed to fund it.”

If anyone would like to support the cause, Emily would be delighted to accept contributions of all sizes – to arrange a donation, please call Emily at our head office on 01347 825200.
