Have a Bite at The Junction
With more than three million people living within 45 minutes of Stoke-on-Trent’s major shopping and entertainment hub, new places to eat are a welcome addition to the community. The Junction is a restaurant complex including Costa Coffee, TGI Friday’s, Nando’s and Bella Italia, strategically located at the intersection of Eturia Road and Potteries Way in Hanley area of Stoke-on-Trent. The project was a joint venture between Sladen Estates, Peveril Securities and Characin Developments.
Hanley is at the centre of Stoke’s conurbation. The high level of development in the area meant that evaluation of the site for the restaurant complex showed the possibility of significant levels of radon, methane and/or CO2, requiring NHBC Amber 2 gas protection measurements.
The solution was provided by
Powerbase® Multigas 300, a barrier membrane manufactured by Industrial Textiles & Plastics Limited (ITP) of North Yorkshire.
Multigas 300 is an aluminium laminate incorporating a foil between two layers of LDPE and a reinforcing scrim, providing a robust, effective barrier to radon, methane and CO2. It is fully compliant to BS8485:2015 (Code of practice for the design of protective measures for methane and carbon dioxide ground gases for new buildings).
The membrane was installed by specialist contractors, SPS Substructure Protection Ltd. The company, established in 1999, has used Powerbase Multigas 300 on a number of projects, including the new £39.4m retail distribution centre for Poundworld at Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
