FlameOut Breathe chosen for façade upgrade on Brighton apartments
ITP’s FlameOut Breathe flame-retardant breather membrane has been specified for a major remediation project upgrading the façade of an apartment complex in Brighton.
CBG Construction Ltd was appointed to oversee a comprehensive refurbishment to address safety issues at the Grand Parade apartments, which were built before stricter safety regulations came into effect in the wake of the Grenfell disaster. Leading specialist façade contractor, Apex Facades, was contracted to undertake the full stripping works and supply and fit new steel frame systems, cladding and external wall insulation along with
FlameOut Breathe to prevent the build-up of moisture within the internal insulation layer.
FlameOut Breathe’s advanced membrane is highly breathable, facilitating the release of water vapour while providing W1-rated water tightness to protect against rain ingress. Its engineered textile also has self-extinguishing qualities and Euroclass B-s1, d0 flame retardancy independently tested to EN 13501-1, making the product fully compliant for use on high-rise and high-risk buildings.
Paul Harrison, Account Manager at ITP, said:
“Apex Facades have become a go-to contractor for major external wall renovations, utilising all their expertise and experience in bringing high-rise buildings in line with the latest safety regulations. We have supplied our breather membranes for a wide range of projects undertaken by Apex, and we’re delighted to support them on this latest scheme in Brighton.”
With in-house manufacturing facilities and decades of experience in the development of protective textiles for construction, ITP manufactures a wide range of membranes engineered to provide high-performance protection for the building envelope. As well as offering a range of breather membranes, the company supplies advanced vapour control layers which enhance air tightness and protect insulation against warm air moisture from a building’s interior. The company’s product portfolio also includes house wraps, roofing underlays, UV-resistant façade membranes, and ground gas barrier membranes for developments on contaminated land.
