Project Description

POWERCLAD® Scaffold & containment sheeting

ITP supplies three products for landmark London project

ITP have supplied three different products for a major London development following the use of the company’s Powerclad printed scaffold sheeting, FlameOut Block Standard vapour control layer and FlameOut Breathe breather membrane at the St Pancras Campus development in Camden.

BAM Construct UK oversaw the construction of the mixed-use project on behalf of developer, W.RE.  BAM transformed underutilised industrial estate occupying a 1.2 acre self-contained ‘island’ block near St Pancras Hospital. Designed by an award-winning team led by Caruso St John Architects, the scheme comprises circa 120,000 sq.ft of office accommodation, circa 30,000sq.ft of new light industrial space, retail spaces and 33 residential apartments with a public park set in between three separate buildings. St Pancras Campus uses on-site energy to help power the all-electric buildings and contribute to the low-carbon design.

Building work was facilitated by protection and containment from Powerclad scaffold sheeting printed with BAM logos. The material is independently certified to meet TS 62 standards for external use and TS 63 standards for internal use in both plain and printed form, making it fully compliant for use on high-rise and high-value projects like St Pancras Campus.

The building envelope at St Pancras Campus features FlameOut Breathe and FlameOut Block Standard installed on either side of the insulation layer by leading façade contractor, Colorminium. The products were sourced from the CCF, a specialist supplier of insulation and façade materials.

The outer protection of FlameOut Breathe provides W1 water tightness to resist the ingress of rainwater while enabling the building to breathe with release of water vapour, preventing condensation from damaging the insulation.

FlameOut Block Standard is providing a defence against warm air moisture from the inside of the building while enhancing air tightness. Fully compliant with all regulations, both products are independently tested to achieve a Euroclass rating of B,s1-d0,  meeting requirements for external walls on residential buildings over 18m.

ITP Sales Director, Matt Thompson, said:

“The use of three ITP products on this landmark development demonstrates our expertise in flame-retardant textile technology. The fire safety credentials of our Powerclad scaffold sheeting make it a popular choice for major projects across the UK. The same can be said of our FlameOut Breathe and FlameOut Block membranes, which have become a fixture at high-rise developments across London. At St Pancras Campus, they are combining to provide dual protection within the building envelope, enhancing the durability of the wall system.”
