Project Description

POWERCLAD® Scaffold & containment sheeting

ITP supplies two flame-retardant scaffold solutions for high-rise refurbishment

ITP supplied two flame retardant scaffold solutions for different stages of a high-rise residential refurbishment in Huddersfield.

Working on behalf of Kirklees Council, contractor Wates carried out fire safety upgrades on Harold Wilson Court, an apartment block near the town centre, implementing recommendations outlined in a survey by architectural and building consultancy, AHR. The works included the installation of a sprinkler system and a range of improved fire safety measures throughout the building, including balconies and installing a new render system that meets the requirements of the latest fire regulations.

Leading specialist contractor, IBN Scaffold Access Ltd, supplied the scaffolding solution with support from ITP. During the early stages of the project, IBN Scaffold Access installed ITP’s Powerclad scaffold sheeting printed with Wates, AHR and Kirklees Council branding. The printed sheeting has flame retardancy standards which have T62 certified compliance for external use and T63 certified compliance for internal use.

Later in the project, IBN Scaffold Access fitted ITP’s Powerclad Flame Retardant Debris Netting, the only netting on the market which is independently certified to meet T62 standards in any colour. Designed to provide air permeable protection and containment, the product is supplied with unique identification to confirm T62 certification, with marking at the end of each roll showing the certificate number which stays on the material.
ITP Account Manager, David Gilmore, said:
“The renovation of Harold Wilson Court demonstrates our ability to supply certified flame-retardant solutions for a range of applications, whether it’s plain or printed scaffold sheeting, or debris netting in any preferred colour. Our T62 and T63 credentials are certified by Exova Warringtonfire, one of two organisations in the UK authorised to carry out independent testing. T62 and T63 are essential requirements for compliance with projects valued over £2.5m or part of a larger project valued over £20 million.”
