ITP’s vapour control layer provides all-season performance for new botanical garden

ITP’s Powerlon VCL 170 vapour control layer has been chosen as a protective solution for a major project in Oman which will deliver the largest botanical garden in the Arabian Peninsula and one of the largest in the world.

Located just outside of Muscat, near the Al Khodh village, the Oman Botanic Garden is a new world-class development of the Diwan of Royal Court in Oman, celebrating the country’s unique plants, landscapes and cultural traditions. Larsen & Toubro is overseeing the development of the garden which is situated on a 430-hectare protected natural area, surrounded by the Northern Mountains of Oman.

The amenity will feature all the native plant species of Oman in a series of carefully created, naturalistic habitats, from the dry deserts to the rich monsoon cloud forests. The garden will also showcase the traditionally cultivated crops and the many ways that people use plants in Oman.

Supplied for the project via leading Singapore-based distributor, LCP Building Products, Powerlon VCL 170 forms part of the roofing and external wall system on the visitor centre at Oman Botanic Gardens. With a mono-filament reinforcement scrim for tensile strength, its polyethylene-based membrane ensures that the building envelope is properly sealed to control ventilation, prevent heat loss and protect insulates from interstitial condensation.
