Supermarket Substructure Success

CASTLEHOUSE CONSTRUCTION is a Yorkshire based firm with four decades of experience constructing major commercial and retail projects. For a new supermarket development in Greater Manchester, they turned to another Yorkshire firm, Industrial Textiles & Plastics of Easingwold, North Yorkshire.

ITP manufacture protective membranes for the building and construction industry, including the Powerbase range of geosynthetic vapour and gas barrier membranes. Vapour and gas barrier ground membranes protect buildings from the ingress of water and naturally occurring gases such as radon, methane and CO2. At the top end of the Powerbase range is Powerbase VOC, a multilayered, composite membrane that provides additional resistance to hydrocarbons and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

ITP has more than 25 years experience developing engineered textiles and flame retardant technology. Paul Harrison, the geomembranes specialist at ITP, was involved in the revision of the Code of practice for the design of protective measures for methane and carbon dioxide ground gases for new buildings (BS 8485: 2015). Other ground membranes produced by ITP include damp proof membranes, BBA certified radon barriers and reinforced multigas barriers.
