The U12s team at the Thirsk RUFC are sporting new hoodies, thanks to sponsorship from Easingwold-based Industrial Textiles & Plastics (ITP). The long-established club is looking to expand its junior membership. “Our U12s team has doubled in size since last September,” said Team Manager Anne Hirst. “The new hoodies went down really well, and our logo looks great. The boys are very happy with them and keeping warm while training.”

New members joining the team come from around the local area, including players from Helmsley, Easingwold and other North Yorkshire towns. Chris Deighton is the coach for the U12s team and emphasises the rugby mantra of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship during their weekly fitness sessions on Tuesdays. Sundays are game days, and the TRUFC’s young teams are impressing the competition. After a recent match against the Acklam U12s, their opponents’ coach said, “They arrived with a great attitude and never gave up and got their rewards at the end. Overall great spirit “

”We are proud to support the young people in our local community and believe that participating in team sports helps them to develop skills that will serve them well in their future careers,” said Marc van der Voort, Managing Director at ITP which produces protective materials for building and construction.
