ITP launches Zero to Landfill programme for end-of-life scaffold sheeting

ITP have ramped up our commitment to carbon and waste reduction with a Zero to Landfill programme, which enables customers to return end-of-life scaffold sheeting for repurposing, remanufacturing or conversion to energy.

The initiative has been launched in partnership with Avena, a secure destruction specialist that provides a fully tailored service to ensure that end-of-life textiles are channelled into environmentally responsible waste streams. Avena will collect the scaffold sheeting from ITP’s clients and transfer it to their facilities, tracking all items to record the total tonnage of collections and calculate the amount of CO2 its solutions save by diverting materials from landfill.

ITP Managing Director, Carl Morse, said:

“Around 350,000 tonnes of textiles are sent to landfill each year, producing 26.2 million tonnes of CO2. The construction industry is one of the world’s largest consumers of energy and raw materials. Our industry has an important responsibility to implement policies and practices that reduce waste and carbon emissions throughout the supply chain.

ITP’s Powerclad scaffold sheeting is made of 100% polyolefin, which can be repurposed or used for waste-to-energy—not only supporting safe working practices in construction but also contributing to carbon emission savings. We have teamed up with Avena to provide an opportunity for our clients to collaborate with us in minimising landfill contributions.”

As part of the Zero to Landfill programme, plastics recycling specialist, Vanden, will analyse material to determine its potential processing requirements. Once a detailed material specification is established, Vanden pair recyclable material with a suitable UK or international re-processor equipped to recycle it effectively.

The programme includes transparent reporting and full documentation for each collection. As part of their service to ITP customers, Avena will issue a certificate of destruction to prove secure disposal, along with environmental impact statements to show tangible carbon savings.

ITP Sales Director, Matt Thompson, said:

“By providing ITP’s end-of-life sheeting for collection, scaffold contractors and suppliers support our efforts to reduce carbon emissions while enhancing the environmental credentials of their business—with certified evidence of their contribution to our programme. This will help our clients to monitor and report their own waste reduction as part of their environmental policies and procedures.”
