FlameOut Breathe Chosen for Transformative Mental Health Facility
ITP’s FlameOut Breathe flame-retardant breather membrane has been specified for a new £45 million mental health unit designed to transform inpatient care in Surrey.
The Silverwood facility at St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey is a state-of-the-art service offering four wards, each with 16 single ensuite bedrooms, along with a music room, air-conditioned gym, art room and two lounges. The BREEAM Excellent building prioritises sustainability, reducing its footprint to protect site ecology and optimise energy use, guided by the NHS Road to Zero Carbon strategy.
FlameOut Breathe was fitted to provide a breathable membrane that allows moisture to permeate from within the building, helping to protect the long-term condition of the building envelope. The flame-retardant textile has a Euroclass B-s1, d0 fire rating, independently tested to EN 13501-1, making the product fully compliant for use on high-rise and higher-risk buildings.
