ITP Membranes Deliver Fire Safety in Shoreditch Student Housing Project
ITP’s ability to supply products that stand the test of time was evident in the refurbishment of a student accommodation building in Shoreditch which involved two building membranes that were specified over ten years apart.
Scape Shoreditch apartment block required remediation of the building envelope to comply with post-Grenfell fire safety laws, including replacement of insulation. The original building envelope included ITP’s Powerlon UV Colour FR, a breathable and highly UV resistant membrane which is ideal for partially open facades and offers Class B-s3, d0 flame retardancy in line with the latest regulations for high-rise buildings.
The Powerlon UV Colour FR installation was still in excellent condition but could not be retained due to the invasive removal of the insulation, so the contractor decided to fit another membrane from ITP’s portfolio, upgrading the specification with the use of the award-winning Stamisol Safe One. Like Powerlon UV Colour FR, Stamisol Safe One offers exceptional UV stability. The product also has a Class A2-s1, d0 (limited-combustible) fire rating which goes above and beyond minimum requirements for breather membranes.
