NASC National Safety Day Drives Safety Forward Through Industry Collaboration

At ITP, we have always believed that the strongest safety culture is built through collaboration, knowledge sharing and a continuous commitment to technical improvement. This ethos was at the heart of NASC National Safety Day 2026, an important industry event bringing together professionals from across the scaffolding and access sector to exchange ideas, discuss emerging challenges and collectively raise standards.

We were proud to support the event and contribute to the day’s programme through a technical demonstration and discussion panel focused on scaffold cladding and flame-retardant sheeting.

Representing ITP, Account Manager Howard Jackson joined NASC Technical Manager Dennis Braithwaite to explore one of the sector’s most topical areas. Their session covered the practical challenges of scaffold cladding, the application and performance expectations of fire-retardant sheeting, and the technical considerations associated with sheeting approaches outlined in TG27 guidance.

TG27 was devised by the National Access and Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) through its technical committees and industry working groups, drawing on the expertise of scaffold contractors, engineers, manufacturers and specialist suppliers from across the sector. It has become an important piece of industry guidance, highlighting key considerations such as wind loading, material selection, fixing methods and the wider impact that sheeting can have on scaffold design and performance.

TG27 reflects the combined knowledge and experience of the industry, and events like NASC National Safety Day provide an invaluable opportunity to continue that conversation as products, applications and challenges evolve. By bringing together contractors, suppliers and technical specialists, these forums help ensure that practical experience informs future thinking and that best practice continues to advance.

Reflecting on the event, Howard commented:

“National Safety Day was a valuable opportunity for the industry to come together and have open, practical discussions around the challenges we all face. The conversation around scaffold cladding and fire-retardant sheeting is a perfect example of how sharing knowledge and experience can improve understanding and support safer working practices.

“At ITP, we work with these products and applications every day, so it was a pleasure to contribute our insight alongside Dennis and engage with others across the industry. It is through these kinds of conversations that we can continue to raise standards, share lessons learned and develop better solutions for the future.”

For ITP, participating in these discussions provides the opportunity to share practical expertise, supporting informed decision-making and playing an active role in helping to shape best practice across the industry.

NASC National Safety Day 2026 once again demonstrated the value of bringing the industry together with a shared goal: improving safety, increasing understanding and encouraging continual progress. We would like to thank NASC, Dennis Braithwaite,  Steve Kearney and all those who attended the session for the valuable discussions and insights shared throughout the day. We look forward to continuing to contribute our expertise and supporting the conversations that help shape a safer future for our industry.
